When TPS were engaged to digitize the HFC network, all headend locations were completely rebuilt to provide for digital television.\u00a0Initially, headends were located in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. To reduce CAPEX expenditure, TPS worked closely with Telstra VB&amp;F (Video, Broadcast &amp; Foxtel) engineering teams and constructed, installed and commissioned a redundant optical link between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Digital video enabled transmission capabilities enabled this link to be constructed (not possible with analogue video) and as such, Telstra were able to abolish its Gold Coast headend, allowing for expenditure to be directed elsewhere in the network.
