Telstra HFC Foundation Network, Melbourne

Early during the nbn national deployment, it was envisaged that access seekers would need to shift their customers from existing access network across to the nbn network. Telstra had another challenge to overcome, their customers connected to the HFC network would be logically migrated across to the nbn network, but physical connectivity would not change, just the NTD (Network Termination Device, aka cable modem).
TPS were engaged to design, construct, and commission a “foundation network”, connected to the production network, which could be used by nbn and themselves to trial migration of services. TPS took up the challenge and successfully designed and constructed a network which would satisfy the requirement.
